According to Adomonline.com, a fire has overtaken the Techiman market in the Bono East Region.
The fire, which began about 9:30 p.m., had been raging for nearly three hours at the time of this report.
Agya Tawiah, an eyewitness and reporter for Gaskiyah FM in Techiman, reported that fire department crews from Wenchi, Sunyani, and Nkoranza were deployed to the location to contain the flames and bring the situation under control.
The fire is reportedly focused on kiosks selling spiritual perfumes, incense, oils, and other similar products. Traders in the impacted areas have expressed their despair, with some claiming major losses due to the inferno.
In addition, three people were rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Techiman for emergency care.
Over 50 stalls were burned in the fire, and police are on high alert to prevent some people from looting the remaining goods at the market.
Nonetheless, authorities are monitoring the situation while efforts to extinguish the fire continue.
