A Wontumi Radio/TV host has been sought for imprisonment by the National Democratic Congress for misleading Ghanaians about the general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
Oheneba Nana Asiedu, the aforementioned presenter, asserted that the forthcoming general election—and specifically the presidential election—would take place on separate days.
He asserted that the election would be place on December 7, 2024, for the first candidates on the ballot, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate, who is ranked first.
Since Dr. Bawumia is the top candidate on the ballot, we will cast our votes for him first on December 7. After voting for the first seven candidates on the ballot, we will vote for the next seven, starting with numbers 8, 9, 10, and 11," he stated in Twi.
Nana Asiedu went so far as to say that anyone who does not cast their ballot for Dr. Bawumia on Saturday, December 7, 2024, will not be able to cast their ballot for the other candidates in the days that follow.
Therefore, on December 7, we will cast our votes for Dr. Mahamududu Bawumia. Perhaps the day or two after that, we will cast our votes for the second candidate on the ballot, followed by the third, and finally the fourth. The tendency is going to be this.
"We are voting on December 7 because we will cast our ballots for the first seven candidates on the list initially. When Dr. Bawumia's turn comes around on December 7, you won't have the opportunity to cast your ballot when it's time for the other candidates. Officers from the Electoral Commission and the police would not allow you to cast a ballot," he continued.
Twum Barima, a member of the NDC's communication team, responded to this interview on Accra FM by expressing his surprise at the presenter's comments.
He claimed that Nana Asiedu needed to be arrested for purposefully misleading the public about the impending election.
"IGP Dampare dislikes false information the most, I mentioned during a program with him. Twum Barima stated, "The police administration should go and arrest this idiot if he is listening to this or if they have heard it."
