Twinsdontbeg, a group of Ghanaian photographers, has promised to use their craft to help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) win the next election. They committed to this when they spoke on the JoyPrime program.
The two claim that their involvement in politics started when they were students at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where they backed Henry Nana Boakye, the current organizer of the NPP, in his bid to become president of the Student Representative Council (SRC).
Even though they lost the election, they continued to be involved in politics and other extracurricular activities, forging close bonds with people who are today powerful players in Ghanaian politics.
They were introduced to the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, by Fatimatu Abubakar, who is currently the Deputy Minister for Information. As a result, they were appointed as her official photographers.
"We are where we are now because of our dedication to show business, fashion, politics, and entertainment. At the university, we met Fati Abubakar, who was involved in national politics at the time we began taking pictures. She explained, "She is the one who introduced us to H.E. Samira Bawumia."
They mentioned how Samira Bawumia's social media activity and photos served as an inspiration for Kenya's First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto's communication team, which ultimately helped them win the election.
"Mama Ruto, the Kenyan First Lady, won the elections. Her PR staff was instructed to promote Samira Bawumia by using her social media accounts and photos. I was seated with her team during a climate meeting in Nairobi.
Additionally, they were unaware that I was the photographer. They were merely stating that they had used Samira Bawumia's branding and imagery as a means of learning and applying them to the First Lady of Kenya following their election victory," they added.
"We are going to use photography to win the next elections for NPP," they continued, expressing confidence in their strategy.
