Paa Kwesi Schandorf, an award-winning media personality from Ghana, has asked the electoral commission to clarify the standards it will employ in choosing the 12 media outlets to report on the next general elections.
Only eight media outlets at the constituency level and twelve at the regional level will be permitted, according to a statement issued by the electoral commission. Paa Kwesi Schandorf responded to this recent declaration by asking the election commission to explain how they plan to choose the eight constituency-level media outlets and the twelve regional ones.
He went on to inquire as to what would happen if the other media outlets wanted to cover the election process as well.
This is a more realistic perspective on the EC's election coverage directive. According to the Commission, only eight media outlets will be permitted at the regional level and twelve at the constituency collation centers.
So let's take a place like Ayawaso West Wuogon. Per the EC's directive, if 16 media houses like Metro TV, Citi, GHOne, JoyNews, TV3, Asaase, Tv Africa, GTV, Peace FM, Radio Gold , XYZ, Graphic, Chronicles, UTV, Atinka and Adom FM go to the constituency collation center, the EC says only 8 will be allowed.
How is it going to choose these eight? On what grounds and according to what standards would the police ban the remaining rejected reporters, or what precisely?" On Facebook, he posted.
