Member of Parliament for Ellembele and Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has blasted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's performance, saying that the elections held on December 7th amply demonstrated his incompetent leadership.
After President Akufo-Addo's final State of the Nation Address on Friday, January 3, 2025, he said in a parliamentary address, "This abysmal record was confirmed on December 7th when the people of Ghana delivered the most overwhelming and emphatic vote of rejection any government has ever witnessed in the Fourth Republic."
Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah accused the President of incompetent leadership and characterized his eight-year term as a failure."Let me remind His Excellency that his tenure in office will remain a timely reminder of how not to govern a country," he said.
The Deputy Minority Leader expressed disappointment with the Akufo-Addo administration but expressed hope for improved leadership under President-elect John Dramani Mahama's incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. However, I also want to quickly reassure Ghana's wonderful people that there is hope for the future.
We can emerge from this glare of hopelessness and have a better future once more with President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC," he continued. He also charged President Akufo-Addo of careless borrowing and poor financial management during his administration."You will go down in history as the first president to receive warnings from the IMF at the start of your presidency, and you continue to receive warnings at the end of your time, Mr. President.
You neglected to include a crucial detail in your account: your pledge to God to construct a cathedral. However, he said, "I will let you and your God handle that, Mr. President."In order to maintain national growth, President Akufo-Addo emphasized in his speech the accomplishments of his administration, including economic plans and policy changes, and he expressed the hope that the incoming administration would build on these initiatives.
