"Ghana's primary elections are in less than two weeks, and all political parties are running for seats in the parliament and the presidency. This article examines the Ashanti region's seats that, according to historical data, the NDC might steal from the NPP in the 2024 election.
The percentage and total number of votes that separate the NPP and NDC parliamentary candidates in the 2020 elections are shown in parenthesis.
The second parenthesis indicates the difference in votes in the presidential election where there is a discernible difference between the presidential and parliamentary gaps.
1. Offinso North (3%, 1,341)
Acheampong Ceasar Ofosu of the NDC and Hon. Ntim Augustine Collins, the current MP for the NPP, were separated by just 1,314 votes in the 2020 elections. The NDC candidate received 17,273, while the NPP candidate received 18,614 votes. The opposition will attempt to take that seat in 2024. In fact, they took that seat in 2012.
2. Atwima Mponua (4% - 2,700) (Presidential - 10,000)
When certain pollsters or election analysts and watchers notice the pattern from 2004 (68%) to 2024 (49%), (the same parliamentary candidate), they extrapolate and believe it will ultimately swing to the NDC in 2024, which gives Atwima Mponua a great deal of hope for the party. The NPP's new parliamentary candidate could affect the outcome of the vote.
3. a. Ahafo Ano North ( 6% - 2,500)
b. Ahafo Ano South-East (7% - 2,000)
c. Ahafo Ano South West (9% - 2,500)
For the 2024 elections, the NPP has chosen fresh parliamentary candidates for the Ahafo Ano seats in each of the three constituencies. more active and diligent PCs. In 2020, Nana Addo outperformed the MPs in the Ahafo Ano seats, increasing the difference by twice as much. This indicates that the NDC may gain parliamentary seats.
It makes sense that NDC would strive to take over the Ahafo Ano seats because they have settler communities similar to those of the Ahafo Regional seats for Collins Dauda and Eric Opoku. In fact, the Ahafo Ano North seat was won by the NDC in 2012.
