Richard Ahiagbah, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) director of communications, has hailed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party's vice president and flagbearer, for his "stellar and exceptional" economic leadership.

Ahiagbah said these things on Saturday, November 23, when he appeared on Channel One TV's The Big Issue.

Dr. Bawumia's leadership on the Economic Management Team has been crucial in guiding Ghana through economic turmoil and setting the nation up for a strong recovery, the NPP's communications director underlined.

He informed the host, Selorm Adonoo, that "if the NDC or anybody else wishes to assess Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's performance as the chairman of the Economic Management Team, you will have to look at the progression and the performance over time and then you will have to acknowledge that he has done well."

Ghana's economy has been put to the test by both domestic and international issues, but Dr. Bawumia's practical approach has produced fruitful outcomes, according to Ahiagbah.

He emphasized how the vice president can stabilize the economy in trying times, especially when there are outside shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic. Ahiagbah acknowledged how the COVID-19 outbreak affected Ghana's economy and gave Dr. Bawumia credit for containing the situation and preventing an economic meltdown.

COVID-19 was a significant event that affected our economy, but we are currently on a route to recovery and it has been sustainable since 2023, when the economy started to grow steadily. With the economy expanding at an average rate of 5.8, we are well on our way to recovery.

"If you are evaluating and seeking explanations for Bawumia's role in helping President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expand the economy, it has been excellent and deserves praise. We would have been in a different place as a nation thanks to COVID-19, and Ghana would not be where it is now. Our economy would have grown and more employment would have been created.
