President-elect John Dramani Mahama has conveyed his heartfelt appreciation for the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) resounding win in the recently concluded legislative elections. During a 31st Night service at the Assemblies of God Church, Mahama took the opportunity to thank God and the people of Ghana for what he termed as a "historic" victory. His words struck a deep chord with the congregation as he reflected on the events leading up to the election.

In recounting his experience on election day, Mahama mentioned a conversation with a journalist who inquired if he was confident about winning the presidency. He said without hesitation, "I am confident that I will win this election." When asked about the NDC's chances of obtaining a parliamentary majority, Mahama stated, "We will win. "I expect us to fill more than 150 seats." However, with a sense of humour, he explained how he had no clue God would surprise them with an even more amazing result, surpassing his own expectations to acquire more than 180 seats.

Mahama, expressing astonishment and excitement, said, "I now have so many MPs, I don't even know what to do with them!" He stressed that the NDC's historic success in Parliament was a victory not only for the party, but also for democracy and Ghanaians' trust in it. Mahama emphasized the value of the people's will, adding, "We are deeply grateful for the trust the people have placed in us."

In his closing remarks, Mahama urged the incoming Members of Parliament to work together and serve the people with humility and determination. His remarks have reverberated internationally, with many Ghanaians hailing the NDC's victory as a new chapter in the country's political history.
