Joyce Bawah Mogtari, an aide to President-elect John Mahama, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections to accept his defeat.

She firmly believes that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's acceptance of the loss will allow him to engage in meaningful introspection.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari was reacting to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s comments regarding his decision to concede defeat before the Electoral Commission officially declared the results.

She remarked, “Dear Sir, what other options were available to you but to concede in the face of such a crushing and humiliating defeat? Please accept that you lost the election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and take some time for deep introspection. Thank you.”

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, while addressing some clergymen who visited him at his residence, explained that he decided to concede early despite objections from some of his team members.

He stated that he conceded to ease the tension in the system and help restore calm.
