Astute and highly respected lawyer, Ace Anan Ankomah is in the news as it appears Facebook account has been taken down hours after a story allegedly implicating him, former Director of the Economic Organised Crime Organisation (EOCO) as well as key personalities in government of playing key roles in the sabotage and subsequent shutdown Menzgold boss, Nana Appiah Mensah along with his company.

According to reports, a US based Ghanaian journalist, Kelvin Ekow Taylor released a video which sought to suggest that the renowned lawyer and former Director of EOCO; Mr. K.K. Amoah masterminded the alienation and current fate of the gold firm boss Nana Appiah Mensah.

As cited by ghpage, “the first person Horizon Royal Diamonds contacted when they came to Ghana to file fraud charges against the two men who defrauded them [Adewoye Olorunfemi Adetunje, a Nigerian and Charles Opoku Darko, a Ghanaian] was renowned lawyer, Ace Anan Ankomah.

After listening and seeing photos of the culprits from the representatives of the Dubai company, lawyer Ace Anan Ankomah agreed to press charges and help them retrieve the 50 million US Dollars paid to the fraudsters, Kelvin Ekow Taylor revealed.

The show host went on to explain that, Ace Anan Ankomah contacted his uncle who was the boss of Economic and Organized Crime Office [EOCO], Dr K.K Amoah for his help in cracking the case.

It was there he found out his boss was in league with the two fraudsters. Left with no option, they all agreed to implicate Nana Appiah Mensah and make him the culprit, Ekow Taylor claims.”

But in a quick rebuttal, Ace Ankomah revealed that although his firm had dealings with an attorney from Dubai on behalf of a UAE company between March 2018 and April 2019, the work instructions did not mention or relate to both Menzgold and Nana Appiah Mensah.

A statement signed by Ace Ankomah debunked the assertions made by Kelvin Ekow Taylor in his alleged expose?.

“For the records, Mr. K.K. Amoah, the immediate past EOCO Boss is not my uncle. He is a colleague lawyer and I know him very well as we have the same hometown. I also consider him an older friend as he considers me a senior at the Bar.

And I am indeed the Managing Partner of the law firm Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah. Between March 2018 and April 2019, the firm was engaged by a Dubai-based attorney on behalf of a UAE company. The work instructions did not mention or relate to either Menzgold or Nana Appiah Mensah. Neither the firm nor I have been involved in any incidents that allegedly happened in Dubai several months after we have been first instructed. Our instructions, when the Dubai incidents later came up, were that the Accra matter which we were handling and the Dubai incidents were separate and unrelated. The client did not seek our opinion on the Dubai incidents and we proffered none. Every document which we received from the client and which was meant for the Police was delivered to the investigator at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police Chief Inspector Wisdom Semanu. We do not have any document that either implicate or vindicate Menzgold or Mensah in any matter. They simply did not come up in those documents.” Mr Ankomah narrated in his statement.

He cautioned Mr Ekow Taylor of a pending suit against him as the reportage was false aimed at tarnishing his image.
