The Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa, has called for the interdiction of the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Gallo, over misconduct regarding the Ejisu by-elections.

According to her account, Gallo illegally prevented Esther Osei, the party’s candidate, from contesting the Ejisu by-elections on the grounds that she is not a well-known member.

Frimpomaa argued that the allegations by Gallo were baseless because the candidate has been an active member of the party, recognized by other members.

In a letter made available to GhanaWeb, Frimpomaa noted that the actions of the regional chairman have tarnished the party’s image, necessitating action.

“The actions of Mr. Gallo and Lawyer Ghanamanti have not only brought the name of our party into disrepute but have also caused significant confusion and damage to our electoral prospects in Ejisu.

"Their deliberate dissemination of misinformation, including labeling Madam Osei as an imposter, has had far-reaching consequences, impacting our standing not only within the constituency but also within the wider Ashanti Region,” portions of the statement read.

She proceeded to urge the CPP Council of Elders to interdict Gallo and his lawyer for disciplinary actions to be taken against them.

“In light of the foregoing, I request that the Council of Elders of the CPP take immediate action to interdict Mr. Emmanuel Gallo and Lawyer Wayo Ghanamanti from their respective positions within the party.

"Furthermore, I also urge that they be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for a thorough investigation into their misconduct and appropriate disciplinary measures,” the statement added.

This request comes after the CPP was unsuccessful in the Ejisu by-elections, coupled with legal issues surrounding their candidacy.
