Akufo-Addo could be ‘eliminated’ at airport by Traboulsi - Ken Agyapong

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

The issues surrounding the award of an airport cargo contract to a close friend of former President Rawlings, Traboulsi Marwan has taken a different twist, as the Assin Central Member of Parliament on the ticket of the ruling party, who first brought the matter into the limelight, is adding yet more allegations, this time bordering on the life of the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a tape in our possession at MYNEWSGH.com, the Assin Central lawmaker, expressing doubt about the adequacy of national security measures taken when he first gave them the tip off, is calling on them to take more proactive steps to protect the life of the President, especially at the airport VVIP area which is “very close to Marwan Traboulsi’s Air Cargo operations”.

According to the outspoken MP, he has alerted National Security to the threat to the life of the President from “a crook like that”, but it appears the steps they took was not satisfactory when he last checked on the situation.

He said Marwan Traboulsi’s cargo contract operations (which he alleges is a dubious contract) gives the cargo operators access to the CCTV cover of the entire airport’s VVIP section where the President always uses when travelling and “they see everything”, which according to the controversial MP, exposes President Nana Akufo-Addo to the risk of being ‘eliminated’ by the person in charge of the Air Cargo company, Marwan Traboulsi, who Kennedy Agyapong called a “crook”.

“When I did my security checks and everything, the President should listen to me, they have every right to remove that cargo from there because where the President passes, the cargo [operations] is just close by. And a crook like that, can easily eliminate the President when he is travelling”, he said.

He called on the security to be alert at all times to protect the President, and that his statements shouldn’t be misinterpreted to mean he was being a mere talkative:

“The Security, they should be alert, and it is not that me Kennedy Agyapong I talk too much. They themselves told me the Traboulsi Marwan guy has fixed a CCTV camera overlooking the area and whatever happens at the Presidential VVIP area they see everything”, he added.

“When they went to see it and complained, according to them it was disconnected. I don’t believe that. National security should go by themselves to disconnect it. Dont tell me when you complained the guy himself disconnected it. It cannot be true”, he said.

Rawlings alleged influence on Traboulsi’s contract

MYNEWSGH.com yesterday reported the 5-term Assin Central MP as having accused the former President and his wife of using their influence to shield Traboulsi Marwan’s ‘dubious’ airport cargo contract from being reviewed, as the said contract is a rip-off of the republic of Ghana and has been running since July 2012 when it was signed. Mr Agyapong avers that Traboulsi Marwan is abusing the said contract with national security officials at the airport looking on helplessly because of the ‘powers’ behind Traboulsi.

“He (Traboulsi Marwan) doesn’t even allow National Security to enter his compound …. And we (NPP) are also allowing it to continue because he is Ex President Rawlings close friend”, he said on Oman FM Thursday.

Mr Kennedy Agyapong noted that Mr Rawlings wouldn’t have allowed such a contract if it was under his own government.

“He (Traboulsi) is Rawlings’ crony, and so what? Rawlings My foot!”, he had thundered.

President Akufo-Addo told to stay off

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been ‘warned’ by Honourable Kennedy Agyapong not to attempt to intervene on behalf of former President John Rawlings in the matter of the operations of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) Air Cargo Center contract in the hands of Traboulsi Marwan.

“I respect the President very much, but if he gets himself involved in this issue, I will put out every detail into the public domain!”, he vowed.

It is the said ‘dubious’ contract which gives Traboulsi Marwan’s Air Cargo company the right to operate in the very place Kennedy Agyapong says endangers the life of the President.
