Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako affectionately called ‘Wontumi’ has said all is set for the rehabilitation of deplorable roads in Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti Region.

He noted that the timely completion of these road projects will not only enhance the status of Kumasi as Ghana’s second-largest city but also, establish it as a major and strategic business destination in West Africa.

Speaking in an interview with Kwame Tutu on ‘Anopa Nkomo’ on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7, Bernard Antwi Boasiako “Contractors have started works on various roads in the Kumasi township and we are bent on completing by 2020.”

“Mahama lied to Ghanaians in 2016 that he has completed the construction of roads in the country which is a complete lie.”

However, a few months after the projects commenced contractors responsible for the projects have packed off their equipment from the roads worsening the traffic situation in the regional capital associated with dust like before but have resumed works after the constructors were paid.

According to him, he was aware that the residents of Kumasi were not pleased with the terrible road networks in the city and were eager to see the roads constructed.

He said, all the necessary steps had been taken for works to commence on the poor road networks in Kumasi so the people should be a bit patient.

They say they have lost count of the number of assurances given them by state authorities to improve the road network.

At the Suame Magazine, he said the contract for the construction of a 10-kilometer road for the enclave was going through the tender process.

He told hundreds of elated mechanics that once the process was over, work would commence almost immediately to fix the deplorable roads.
