Member of Parliament [MP] for the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has cautioned government to show seriousness in steps taken to investigate the murder of Ghanaian investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

According to him the NPP government has been very poor in briefing the public on investigation matters and should this be the case in the death of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, then the state will suffer major foreign interventions.

“ . . Indeed this matter if not handled well will affect government interventions from foreign countries as well as investors to Ghana,” he said in an interview on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' programme.

He further recalled that “final information on the Australia Visa Scandal which was all over international media is nowhere to be found, as well as investigations on former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi’s comments made in connection with Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ number twelve documentary. This is the same government that claims to be investigating every matter that emanates from its administration as compared to past governments, but never reports on any outcome of its investigations”.

The ranking member of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs committee pointed out that “government should stop shielding the matter at hand and inspire confidence in getting to the bottom of the killing since the international community is watching.”

Ahmed was shot three times, twice in the chest and another in the neck late Wednesday night at Madina in Accra while driving home by unidentified men riding a motorbike.
