The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has generously donated a sum of GH¢500,000 to support the establishment of an educational fund by the Oguaamanhene, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta I.

This announcement was made during the 60th anniversary of the Fetu Afahye festival, which also marks the 25th anniversary of the Oguaamanhene’s ascension to the throne in Cape Coast.

“When I came, you told me that you want to establish an educational fund. I support the fund with GH¢500,000. I also call on all Ghanaians to support the fund so that education can be enhanced in Oguaaman,” the Asantehene stated.

In a video shared on social media, the Oguaamanhene expressed his gratitude, saying, “At first, I found it difficult to believe, I had to come and confirm it myself. May God bless you. You also donated the sum of GH¢500,000 to support children in school from their early years to the senior level. God bless you for this gesture. I promise to deliver periodic reports of how the donation is being utilized. Thank you for this kind gesture and may God bless you.”

The Asantehene also called on the people of Oguaa and all Ghanaians to unite and support the growth and development of Oguaaman.

Speaking through his linguist, he emphasised the importance of love and unity among the people. “If you see me and my chiefs here, it is because we are here to show love and to affirm that we are all one people,” he stated.

He praised the Oguaamanhene for his humility and dedication to the community, expressing his prayers for continued growth and development for Oguaaman.

“I have known you for a long time and I know you are humble. I pray for growth and development for Oguaaman from this day forward as you mark your 25th anniversary of ascending the throne and the 60th anniversary of this festival. I also plead with the people of Oguaa to support you with love and unity so that Oguaaman can grow,” he added.

The Asantehene further stressed the historical significance of Cape Coast, reminding the people that it was the first city in Ghana where many foundational institutions were established, including sectors such as education, trade, and the cotton industry.
