Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has once again acknowledged the economic challenges facing Ghanaians, admitting that many are still enduring hardships.

However, he emphasised that the government has implemented several measures to alleviate the suffering.

“The suffering is there, it’s not gone, but there are a lot of social interventions to reduce the suffering,” Dr. Bawumia stated during a recent interaction, addressing questions related to his 2016 campaign slogan, "Ghanaians are suffering," he said.

Dr. Bawumia, who is also the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pointed to various government initiatives that he believes have mitigated the difficulties faced by citizens.

“Teachers were suffering, now they have received their allowances. Nurses were suffering, we have restored their allowances. The suffering of parents has reduced because we introduced free SHS,” he highlighted, referencing the government's efforts to improve living conditions.
