Bawumia embarks on three-day Ashanti campaign tour on June 10

The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is expected to commence a 3-day campaign tour in the Ashanti region on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Rumours are rife in Kumasi that the Vice President is most likely to name Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti regional capital, as his running mate during his tour in the party’s major stronghold.

As part of his campaign programme, Dr. Bawumia will first meet the Ashanti regional executive of the party, government appointees, members of parliament, a parliamentary candidate, the regional council of elders, a council of patrons, a constituency chairman, former regional executives, former regional council of elders, former council of patrons, former government appointees, and former members of parliament at True Vine Hotel at about 8 am.

Dr. Bawumia will at 10 am meet all paramount Chiefs and Queen mothers in Ashanti at the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs secretariat in Kumasi to present his vision to them ahead of the launching of his campaign manifesto for the general elections.

After the 2-hour meeting with the traditional leaders, the Vice President will again meet the clergy at McKeown Temple before meeting the Muslim leaders at 1:30 pm at the Kumasi Central Mosque. The Vice President is expected to meet and greet Central market traders at the market at about 3 pm.

Dr. Bawumia will wrap up day one campaign activities at the True Vine Hotel where he will meet professional bodies such as the Ghana Medical Association, Ghana Bar Association, Ghana Journalist Association, University Teachers Association of Ghana, Ghana National Association of Teachers, National Association of Graduate Teachers, Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana Institute of Architects, Ghana Institute of Engineers, Ghana Institute of Surveyors, Ghana Association for Medical Physics, Nurses and Midwifery Association, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana, Ghana Institute of Planners, among others.
