The trust in the Minority Chief Whip Mohammed Muntanka Mubarak is fast diminishing in the face of Asawase constituents as many believe their Member of Parliament (MP) was economical with the truth when he appeared before the Special Parliamentary Committee tasked by the speaker to investigate the matter

Some Members on Parliamentary Appointments Committee were accused of taking GH¢ 3,000 each as a bribe from Mr. Boakye Agyarko then nominee as minister for Energy.

The allegation attracted condemnation from the general public compelling the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Mike Aron Oquaye to constitute a five-member committee to investigate and bring finality to the issue.

MP for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga, including other MPs alleged some members received money from Muntaka purported to come from Mr. Boakye Agyarko as bribe to influence their decision to approve him for the position of Energy Minister appearing before the vetting committee.

But cross sections of residents of Asawase think that their MP was being economical with the truth when he met the five-member committee.

“It is like a universe of deceit; telling the truth will become a revolutionary act. MPs define meaning of bribery but they will still not tell the truth”

“An MP is taught from day one to answer a question with another question when even the facts are clear.

For me, I don’t trust my MP to tell the truth but he avoided some questions since it is coming from his colleagues” , some residents observed.
