Media personality descends on Cheddar over attempt to resolve 'feud' between Asantehene and Dormaahene

Nana Kwame Bediako, independent presidential candidate

A radio show host at Opemsuo Radio, which describes itself as the official mouthpiece of Asanteman, Fredua Agyemang, has descended heavily on Independent Candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, for claiming he is committed to resolving the 'feud' between the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, and Dormaahene, Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu.

Cheddar, speaking during a visit to the Dormaahene’s palace as part of his regional tour to convince Ghanaians to vote for him ahead of the 2024 elections, pledged to mediate between the two chiefs for the sake of development.

“Otumfuo and Osagyefo, these are two significant names, and both are chiefs. If it weren’t for the blessings of God, they wouldn’t have become chiefs. But things happen for a reason.

“I came here with drinks to appease you, and I will plead on behalf of Otumfuo as well to cease all grudges between the two of you. I, Nana Kwame Bediako, am offering my head for the sake of peace. If the two of you are united, we have peace in Ghana. But if there is separation, then we are also separated. What I am asking them to do is, if it doesn’t become possible, they should behead me.” Cheddar stated.

But reacting to Cheddar's comment on his show, Fredua Agyemang slammed the businessman turned politician, asking him not to talk about a matter of chieftaincy he has no knowledge about.

"Spend your time on politics and ignore chieftaincy matters you don't understand. When you visit a town, speak about only what you want to do to help that town and leave matters that you don't understand. Nobody from Manhyia is fighting with another chief; it is rather one chief who has purposed to be making statements that will incite Bono people against Ashantes. So, Cheddar, if you don't have any knowledge about chieftaincy matters, please keep your mouth shut.

"You can't also use the medium of radio or TV to send a message to a linguist; that is not done. Politicians are fond of doing politics with any issue that they think will aid their political agenda, especially as the election draws near. Cheddar, you are talking about a fight between Asantehene and Dormaahene; where did you hear that there's bad blood between Ashantes and Bonos? Who told you there's enmity between the two groups of people? Cheddar, are you not in Ghana, and don't you hear that this man that you visited is the one who always provokes the Asantehene by making certain provocative comments? Have you ever heard the Asantehene making such comments? So which fight are you talking about? The Asantehene is rather focused on development and not in petty quarrels with anyone. Focus on your politics and leave the Asantehene out of such matters," he stated.
