Coup Plot Uncovered?

... or another HOAX?
Accra, June 3 -- According to the newspaper, Daily Guide, some six people were arrested on Thursday, in Accra, on suspicion for plotting to destabilise the country.

The "coup plotters" were reportedly arrested with a cache of weapons consisting of hand grenades and AK 47s.

Security bosses however remained tight-lipped when contacted for details.

Ghana has suffered a number of coups since independence in 1957, but in recent times has been stable.

The capital Accra was calm today with no roadblocks or large military presence.

It must be recalled that, prior to the December elections, a group of civilians and retired soldiers suspected of plotting to destabilise Ghana ahead of elections were found with military equipment, a firearm and ammunition, the country's top criminal investigator said.

It turned out to be a hoax.
