The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, had strong words of caution for the vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), when he was presented to him on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

The Asantehene told NAPO to ensure that his actions do not make the Flagbearer of the NPP, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, regret choosing him as his running mate.

He added that NAPO should follow Bawumia’s leadership with humility in order to learn from him.

"Don't let Dr. Bawumia regret choosing you as his running mate. Serve well and do what he tells you.

"This is the advice I gave you indoors. Be humble in your service. Listen to him because what he will teach you is the best," he said in Twi.

The Asantehene also told the Vice President to take good care of NAPO, his grandson.

He urged Dr Bawumia to inform him of any issue that arises between him and his running mate so that he could help address it.

NAPO was presented to the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace ahead of his grand unveiling at the Kumasi Jubilee Park as the vice-presidential candidate of the NPP.
