The outgoing Chief Executive Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital, Dr Felix Anyah has handed over the management the hospital to Dr Samuel Asiamah, this comes after Dr. Felix Anyah Dr Anyah’s appointment as CEO of Korle-Bu was terminated last Wednesday without reasons by the President.

Dr. Felix Anyah took over from Dr. Samuel Asiamah who was the acting CEO of the hospital following the self-termination of service by Dr. Gilbert Buckle who reportedly ended his service in February 2017.

During Dr. Felix Anyah year of service, it is reported that the CEO never took a single cedi as remuneration or allowance.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Dr. Felix Anyah even though the termination of his appointment came as a surprise, he is proud of his achievement within the one year of his service.

“As a private sector businessman my line of thinking was restructuring the system to be able to manage emerging difficulties. However, my Team and I in the absence of a Board for the best one year managed to restore the oxygen supply system to generate oxygen within and reduce the dependence on vendors, with this the hospital is now saving between ¢80,000 and ¢100,000 by repairing its own oxygen plant, I also ensured that digital telephone system was installed to improve communication in the hospital, restored security lighting on the main streets within the hospital and many more," he said

He also called on the government to put in place the right policy framework for the management of the hospital.

Top management and staff of the hospital eulogized Dr. Felix Anyah for his massive contribution toward the development of the hospital.

Dr Felix Anyah was dismissed with Managing Director of the Bulk Oil and Storage Transport (BOST), Alfred Obeng Boateng; CEO of Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Gifty Klenam; MD of the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GHAPOHA), Paul Ansah by Akufo-Addo on June 6, 2018.

This is the first time the dismissal of a CEO has agitated staff of the hospital leading to an initial demonstration to seek reasons for the termination of his appointment.

The workers marched through some streets in the hospital, holding placards some of which read: “No Dr Anyah, no work, ‘’Dr Anyah is the best public sector Chief Executive Officer,” “Mr Minister, Anyah is not corrupt,” “Mr President, we are disappointed,’’ and “Anyaa, Korle Bu needs you more.”

But following the acceptance of the Dr. Anyah calm has been restored as workers have come to terms with the current situation.
