The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has announced that it will be conducting a 3-day mop-up voter registration exercise before the upcoming December 7, 2024, election.

In a letter addressed to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and seen by GhanaWeb, the EC stated that the mop-up registration exercise will take place from Thursday, August 1, 2024, to Saturday, August 3, 2024, at all of its district offices nationwide.

The letter, dated June 6, 2024, reads, "This is to inform you that the Commission will conduct a mop-up voter registration exercise at all district offices throughout the country. The registration will also be extended to prison centers. The exercise is scheduled to take place from Thursday, August 1 to Saturday, August 3, 2024."

The commission also mentioned that the details of the exercise will be discussed at an upcoming IPAC meeting.

This proposed exercise follows the EC's recent limited voter registration, which took place for 21 days from May 7, 2024, to May 27, 2024, with an extension until May 29, 2024.
