Roads minister Francis Asenso-Boakye has cautioned voters in Ejisu to elect the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, in the upcoming by-election, if they want their roads to be fixed.
According to the minister, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Bantama, it is only proper to elect an MP who has close links to the government.
He said any other candidate, be they independent or from the opposition will find it difficult to lobby him for road projects because they do not belong to the governing party.
"As we speak, the government has a candidate yet you say you won't vote for him. If you vote for an independent or opposition MP, how does he lobby for roads for you?
"If he is in Parliament, can he come to my office to lobby for roads for you? He cannot because it doesn't happen," he said during a campaign stop in the area.
The by-election which will be held on 30th April 2024 under the management of the EC seeks to elect a Member of Parliamentary for the Ejisu Constituency following the demise of their MP, John Kumah on 7th March 2024.
The full list of candidates for the Ejisu by-election is as follows:
Esther Osei (CPP)
Lawyer Kwabena Boateng (NPP)
Beatrice Boakye (LPG)
Kwabena Owusu Aduomi (Independent)
Gabriel Agyemang Joseph (Independent)
Attakorah Joseph (Independent)
