Security expert Saani Adib has cautioned against sharing information about the 2024 elections from the Ghana Police Service with the public, emphasizing that security measures shouldn’t be openly disclosed like football commentary.

In an interview on Kasapa News with Akua Sonto, Mr. Adib said he believes this would provide troublemakers with valuable insights to guide their malicious intentions.

“Unlike live sports commentary, where everyone knows how the game is being played, election security requires confidentiality. Revealing security plans would allow troublemakers to devise strategies for malicious activities,” he noted.

With only 24 days until election day, Adib isn’t surprised the police service hasn’t revealed specific security measures. However, he expressed confidence in the service’s ability to implement effective security plans closer to the election date.

Adib also stressed the importance of building public trust in the police, particularly in handling elections. He noted that consistency in applying the law across the political divide is crucial in deterring lawlessness.

Adib urged Ghana Police Service officers to adhere to the service’s principles as well as their own human principles, resisting orders from political actors that could jeopardize national peace.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has affirmed the Ghana Police Service’s dedication to maintaining peace before, during, and after the December 7 Presidential and parliamentary elections.

He stated that the police and partner security services were ready to risk their lives to protect the country’s peace for future generations and cautioned troublemakers about the consequences.

Dr. Dampare warned that any group or individual attempting to disrupt the country’s peace would face the full force of the law.

This assurance aimed to ensure a secure and peaceful electoral process in Ghana.
