Galamsey Fraud: 'Don't accept Charles Bissue's resignation letter' - Western Youth to Akufo-Addo

Charles Bissue has allegedly been implicated in Anas investigative piece on Galamsey Charles Bissue has allegedly been implicated in Anas investigative piece on Galamsey

A group of over hundred people in the Western Region has appealed to President Akufo-Addo not to accept the resignation letter of Mr. Charles Bissue, the Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) over galamsey video premiered by Aremeyaw Anas of Tiger Eye PI.

The group said the President should rather call him back to office with immediate effect to continue his good works which have seen a positive changes in the river bodies in Ghana especially the Ankobra River in the Western Region.

The non-partisan group, Western Youth AssociatIon (WYA) in a press conference held at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West Constituency, believed the allegations labelled against Mr. Bissue by Anas Aremeyaw Anas in the galamsey fraud video is frivolous and incompetent to indict him as corrupt.

The group further demanded that Anas Aremeyaw Anas should make available the full unedited video to the Presidency for investigation to be carried out immediately other than that the President should direct Mr Bissue to go back to the office awaiting investigation.

The group bemoaned the unwillingness of Anas Aremeyaw Anas to provide the full unedited video to the Presidency which to them is weird and therefore appealed to the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Darkwa Akufo Addo not to accept the hardworking and incorruptible Mr Charles Onuawonto Bissue's resignation since he Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas has already petitioned the Special Prosecutor.

The leaders of the group Mr. James Ackah and Mr. Kweku Tawiah believed Charles Bissue continuous stay in office will not impede the Special Prosecutor's investigation.

The group also alleged that some disgruntled illegal miners whose nefarious activities in the Mining sector have been stopped by the hardworking Secretary, Mr Bissue, resulting in cleaning our water bodies were behind this Anas Aremeyaw Anas video, but "thank God in the said video Mr Charles Bissue did not demand a Bribe from the Tiger PI team".

Mr Ackah said "Is it not weird that that the ten thousands Ghana cedis given to Mr Charles Bissue after he agreed to fasten the process legally for the said ORR RESOURCES who is already on site but has only two months left for the licence to expire be a BRIBE".

Mr Tawiah, a member of the group in an interview with the media said he has on many platforms including UTV, TV3 etc, heard Mr Bissue saying the Committee will make available to the existing Small Scale miners the time lost through the ban if their licence expired and therefore for the ORR resources, whose licence will expire in two months time to benefit from this IMCIM's magnanimity is not something corruptible.

He also said from the video, he sees nothing corrupt on the part of Mr Bissue since he did not charge or demand bribe from the Tiger PI member.

He continued that if Mr Bissue had something fishy to hide or wanted to circumvent the process he would not have asked EPA to intervene and hence call on the President to treat this video which Anas was in haste to dedicate to his partner the late Ahmed Suale with the contempt that it deserves for Charles Bissue is innocent.
