President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has said that the nation’s peace and prosperity is more important than the ambitions of political figures.

Nana Akufo-Addo, speaking ahead of the 2020 elections said, the peace and stability Ghanaians have enjoyed since the country became a Republic will not allow any political party or leader to throw the country in a state of chaos.

In a Tweet, he said, “The good sense of the Ghanaian people, which has preserved the peace and stability of the 4th Republic for the last 27 years, will continue to prevail, and they will not permit any poor, desperate loser to plunge this country into chaos. Ghana is bigger than the ambitions of any of us.”

He made the comments at the 20th Anniversary of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON) at the Ho Technical University in the Volta Region.

Akufo-Addo further assured his contender in the coming general elections, John Mahama, that there will be no strife nor confusion before and after the polls.

His comments come after assertions made by the former President Mahama to the effect that there will strife, conflict and chaos in the aftermath of the December 7 elections.

Addressing a packed Ho Technical University auditorium, the President stated that “I think that it is important for the credibility of our national public discourse that public persons are seen to be consistent in their views and advocacy.”

He continued, “It cannot be right that when you are President, you say one thing, and, when you become the leader of the Opposition, you say another.”
