The Eastern Regional Secretary for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Elder Semefa Mawutor has observed that Ghanaians are dying like flies under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to Elder Semefa in an interview on Radio 1 monitored by MyNewsGh.com, dying Ghanaians are unable to meet the rising cost of living in the country amidst security threats in the country.
“Just look around you will see we are all not safe. Ghanaians are dying like flies under the NPP government and they don’t care. From the shooting of police officers to the Kidnapped girls, we are not safe under this government”, he said.
His comments were a reaction to the recent killings of police officers in the country by suspected armed robbers and the increasing tariffs in electricity and water.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission earlier this week announced an upward review of electricity by 5.94%
It also announced an increase in water tariffs by 2.22% bringing the combined increase to over 8%.
In a statement, the PURC explained, the increase in tariffs was determined by the Automatic Adjustment Formula (AAF) which considers eight factors including inflation, in arriving at a review.
PURC announced, consumers should expect the increase to kick in on October 1, 2019.
