The Member of Parliament-elect for Dome/Kwabenya, Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, has expressed her gratitude and determination following her victory in the parliamentary elections.

Speaking to journalists after the Electoral Commission officially affirmed her win at an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, she attributed her victory to perseverance, hard work, dedication, and faith.

According to her, the affirmation by the EC was a continuation of her declaration as the winner on December 8, 2024.

"Today is an affirmation because, as you all know, on December 8, almost all of you were present in Dome/Kwabenya when I was declared. So today is not a new declaration; it's an affirmation. I just want to thank God for how far He has brought us," she said.

"We all know that the elephant is a big animal, and when you kill it, it takes time before it finally dies. So today, finally, the elephant is dead, and Dome/Kwabenya has come to stay. What made the difference? It's hard work, dedication, and, of course, prayers," she remarked.

Acknowledging the challenges faced during the electoral process, she thanked her supporters and the team that stood by her throughout the campaign.

"The process was not easy due to the ups and downs, but I want to thank everyone who supported us through the long hours. The voice of the people has finally spoken. To God be the glory, great things He has done, and greater things He will do," she said.

Touching on her plans for the constituency, the MP-elect assured her constituents of her commitment to delivering impactful work that would solidify their trust in her leadership.

"Now, I’m the MP-elect. The next step is to start working. Dome/Kwabenya has always been for the NPP, and this is the first time the NDC has taken the seat," she said.

"It’s hard work that will make the people maintain me for a long time, and that hard work starts today. I promise my constituents that we will make Dome/Kwabenya a place everyone will love to be," she stated.

Her victory marks a historic win for the NDC in a constituency long held by the NPP, signaling a shift that she aims to sustain through dedicated service and commitment to her constituents' needs.
