Ghana’s top undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has explained that his work on Number 12 which exposed corruption in football in Ghana as well as Africa is not about individuals but a fight against the corrupt system that existed.

Asked if he had met or willing to meet the embattled President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi after exposé that led to his lifetime ban from football-related activities by FIFA, Anas said he was not prepared to meet him maintaining his work was not about individuals.

“I have not come face-to-face with Nyantakyi after the release of Number 12. The exposé was not about individuals but systems and institutions...we are about 54 people, 34 referees. I did not individualize the investigations. I have not met him and not looked out for him. I don’t usually do that”, he disclosed during an interview prior to the Media Festival organized by The Press Foundation (TPF) with support by MyNewsGh.com.

Reminded by the fact the Kwesi Nyantakyi headlined the entire exposé for which reason he should have looked out for him, he simply responded “ Nigeria was much hit by this work than Ghana because they have millions of residents if you do the social media balancing”

According to him, their coach was neck-deep in the scandal and it affected them greatly and so the perception that the whole exposé was all about Nyantakyi is not accurate.

He disclosed that people have called him names over the release of number 12 but said he is unfazed by such acts promising to go all out for the bad guys in society.

“People have called number 12 names, and also described its impact in many forms, but I can tell you if anybody thought number 12 was hot, what is coming will be fire”. He assured.

“Posterity will not forgive if we leave the country in the hands of criminals. Our children will also not forgive us”, he warned.
