Presidential aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Stephen Atubiga has vowed to deal with the NDC 10 Regional Chairmen for endorsing the former president John Mahama against the party’s constitution.

Mr Atubiga warned the ten Regional Heads to desist from such acts, as their current posture is a threat to the rebuilding process and a strong NDC for 2020.

He urged them to concentrate on their mandate as a party regional executive and appealed to the party leadership to call them to order.

Speaking on OTEC FM’S political programme ‘’Nyansapo’’ hosted by Agya Owusu Ansah, Mr Atubiga, vowed to defeat former President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming presidential primaries of the party despite massive endorsement from the regional heads.

He expressed worry over the fact that these same key officials who endorsed him once have retreated and endorsed a fellow competitor this time.

“I'm surprised why these chairmen will take such a decision to single out the former President for this subtle endorsement when others have also expressed their interest to contest the race,’’ he observed.

The 10 Regional Chairmen of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have backed the candidature of John Dramani Mahama for election 2020, even before the latter announces his intentions.

The ten regional chairmen after a meeting on Thursday, November 9, 2017, with the former president, issued a communique in which they urged the former President to consider running for the 2020 polls.

The brief statement did not give further details as to why they were making the call.

They also urged him to embark on a “Thank you” tour of the country, although belated, to thank party loyalists for their support during the December 2016 polls.

This comes barely a week after the former President told party supporters at the party’s unity walk in Cape Coast, that a decision as to whether or not he would contest was immature, since it could affect the party’s ongoing re-organisation agenda.

Mr. Atubiga admitted that this endorsement given to the former president is a big blow to him and his team regardless however; he will device another strategy with which he will defeat Mr. John Mahama.

"What is really worrying my team and I is, most of these same Regional Chairmen have come to endorse me in closed doors as their candidate, including some sitting MPs and former MPs and some DCEs. I will put their names out soon after consultation with my strategic team,” he added.

He promised to defeat Mr. John Mahama, Mr. Sylvester Mensah, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Dr. Ekow Spio Gabrah and others.

"Nothing will and can stop me from defeating JDM, Alabi, Sly, Spio and co. I will face them Dollar to Dollar, pound to pound; Cedi to Cedi. I will give them a run on their money. Are you kidding me?" he boasted.
