The Select Committee on Defense and Interior of Parliament will, Tuesday, host the Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Appeatu over growing security threats in the country.

The IGP is expected to brief the Committee on the current security situation in the country and the kind of measures the Police Administration is putting in place to address the growing security threats on lives and property.

His invitation to the Committee was spurred by recent attacks on some Police personnel by some armed robbers and irate youth.

Just last Sunday, a group of armed robbers stormed the Dome-Kwabenya Police Station to free seven of their colleagues who were custody and in the process killed one Police officer.

In Asante Akyim Agogo, some Fulani herdsmen opened fire on some security personnel that have been brought to the area to maintain peace and order and in the process killing three.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah, who is a member of the Committee on Defense and Interior, confirmed the invitation of the IGP in an interview on Accra-based Okay FM, Tuesday.
