Dr. S.K. Nuamah, an energy expert, has called on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to take responsibility for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) failure to secure victory in the 2024 elections.

According to him, if Akufo-Addo comes forward to accept blame and apologize, it will facilitate the party’s healing process and help re-energize its members for future electoral success.

Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on February 25, 2025, Dr. Nuamah stated, “By the time Bawumia took over, the party had already been destroyed, as Obiri Boahen once
said. At this point, we have grieved enough. It is time to put measures in place and move forward.”

“I will plead with former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo if he truly loves the party, he should come out and accept full responsibility for everything that happened. He should apologize. Doing so will help the party heal faster,” he added.

The NPP lost the 2024 elections to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

After the party’s loss, several individuals have accused the former president of orchestrating the party’s defeat.

The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, on Monday, December 9, 2024, declared John Dramani Mahama the winner of the election.

Mahama's party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), achieved historic success by securing a significant majority in Parliament.
