Installation of new Ga Mantse disputed

Three ruling houses dissociate from installation of new Ga Mantse

Accra, June 15, GNA - Three of the four ruling houses of the Ga Royal Dzaase on Thursday disassociated themselves from the installation of the new Ga Mantse, King Tackie Tawiah III.
A release signed by Niinabi Anyah Tackie-Yarboi, Secretary to the Ga Royal Dzaase; Nii Yarlai Yartey, Acting Head of the Amugi We; Nii Ayitey Osu, Acting Head of Piam and Nii Mensah Lartey, Acting Head of Tackie Komme We, said the installation was done without their consent and was not in accordance with Ga custom and usage. The release said the late Ga Mantse Boni Nii Amugi should be laid to rest before the installation of a successor.
It said Nii Akropong III Head of the Teiko Tsuru We, the Fourth Ruling House, did the installation without the involvement of the others.
Dr Jo Blankson, 63, a member of the National Development Planning Commission, was on Monday, June 11 installed as the new Ga Mantse under the stool name King Tackie Tawiah III.
Dr Blankson, who is also a member of the Law Review Commission, succeeds the late Nii Amugi II.
Nii Akropong III, Head of the Teiko Tsuru Royal House of Numo Tete and Nai Wulomo, Spiritual Head of the Ga State, presided over the installation of King Tachie Tawiah III.
