Kasoa robbery: We didn’t shoot anybody – Police

Kasoa Police has denied claims that they shot indiscriminately Kasoa Police has denied claims that they shot indiscriminately

The Kasoa Police has denied claims that the Police shot indiscriminately to kill an innocent person in an attempt to arrest some armed robbers.

Reports indicate that on Wednesday October 31, a suspected armed robber was shot dead after he engaged in a shootout with the Police. Some residents of the area said the deceased was not an armed robber.

Wife of the deceased narrated on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM hosted by Kwabena Prah Jnr. (The Don) on Thursday November 1, that the Police claimed her husband was smoking ‘wee’ and so they had come to arrest him.

“He then decided to run away from them and they shot him, killing him in the process,” she said.

But David Nana Agyeman, the Kasoa Divisional Police Commander, explained also on the same show that the robber did not die out of a shootout with the Police.

He said : “We had a tip off that three people are plotting to engage in a robbery and so we sent officers to that place. Upon seeing the Police, the three people started to run and of course, our men also chased after them and managed to arrest one.

“The one arrested attempted to run away even after he had been arrested and fell and died in the process so he was not killed out of a shootout,” he said.
