Keep your water project, we’ll continue to drink with animals – Residents to DCE, MP

Residents of Kwansakrom, a deprived community in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese(AAK) District of the Central Region have out-rightly rejected the Assembly’s water project despite sharing their only source of drinking water with animals following disagreements over politics.

For decades, the people of Kwansakrom drink water from a stream full of impurities which serves as the main source of drinking water for a population of over 500 inhabitants, a situation which forces them to share water with their livestock.

In view of this, Abura Asebu Kwamankese(AAK) district assembly led by the District Chief Executive(DCE) of the area, Madam Felicia Aba Hagan and the Member of Parliament(MP), Mr. Elvis Morris Donkoh quickly constructed an ultra-modern water pump project costing GH¢20,000 to address the water crisis in the area.

When these two top officials of the assembly however went to the community to commission the water project, they had the shock of their lives when the residents who have not tasted potable water for decades were seen playing politics and even refused to meet them in order for the commissioning to come off.

The officials were therefore disappointed with Kwansakrom residents and even regretted constructing the water project for them in view of their conduct

As a result, the DCE, Madam Aba Hagan instructed her team to lock the water pump with a padlock.

In all, five deprived communities benefited from the water pump projects including Old Odonase, Asebufokrom, Perekyerekye, Adukwakrom and Kwansakrom.

On his part, the MP of AAK constituency, Mr. Elvis Morris Donkoh charged the people to focus on development of the community and not the political party they belong to.

“Whichever party that you belong to, whether NDC, NPP, CPP, GUM the main focus of these political parties is help our communities to develop so if NPP is in power, join hands for the development of the community” he fumed.

Mr. Morris Donkoh again appealed to his constituents to put NDC, NPP affair aside and think development of their communities.
