Some Ghanaians on twitter have tongue-lashed President Akufo-Addo for extending his condolences to the families and loved ones of the about 30 Ghanaians, including a police officer who met their untimely death at the Kintampo-Tamale Highway on Monday, March 9, 2020.
Year after year, it has been reported that travellers perish in road accidents on that stretch yet, no preventive measures have been put in place to resolve the accidents on the Kintampo-Tamale highway which has become a 'death' trap for both passersby and travellers who ply that route.
According to some tweeps, the President, together with his appointees must do the needful by fixing the bad roads as promised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in their 2016 manifesto.
One of the comments read "We don’t need sympathy, get to work!, fix the roads".
Another said "The usual thoughts and prayers but no action".
Black Monday it was for the country as a Yutong bus, heading to Accra veered off its lane and collided with a Tamale-bound Sprinter.
The ferocity of the accident left the two vehicles in flames with about 30 of the passengers being burnt to death. 6 people, however, survived with various degrees of injuries.
Read below President Akufo-Addo's tweet
My sympathies and condolences go to all the families and loved ones of the deceased in Monday’s horrific accident on the Kintampo-Tamale Highway. May their souls Rest In Peace. I also wish the injured a speedy recovery.

Some tweeps reply to the Akufo-Addo's statement
It shouldn't always be about condolences but taking time to fix the bad roads to prevent these accidents, rather than wasting money on unprofitable projects.

Mr president. The National Road safety commission and MTTD is not helping to solve the road crashes in this country at all. Not a single target has been achieved in a year. What we need most in this country to reduce crashes is to continue educate for our drivers. Long live Ghana

As if they dnt know. This issue has been stressed on over and over again, yet no action. Or should we start raising funds for this project? Hmm. This is very sad to say the least

We need dual carriageways in Ghana to help curb the spate of road fatalities. Precious lives are being lost, Mr. President, please do something about this and your name will foreverremain in the hearts of Ghanaians.

In a civilised and with proactive leadership these numerous accidents would be treated as a state of emergency where pragmatic measures are taken to address this madness but as usual "sympathies" how did we come up with the current leadership only God knows.
