Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has promised to lower data costs and offer free Wi-Fi in every school in Ghana when he's elected the President of Ghana in the December 7 general election.

He cited the NDC's deployment of fiber and satellite internet technology to provide public institutions with free Wi-Fi services as evidence of his trust in the organization's capacity to deliver on this commitment.

“We will work with the telecom companies to reduce data costs and deploy free Wi-Fi in all our schools and selected public places. We have the capacity to do this. With fibre and satellite internet, we can provide free wifi to all our public institutions,” he said.

The former president made the pledge during the launch of the NDC's youth manifesto on August 12 at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Auditorium.

He further announced that the next NDC government will launch the ‘No Fees Stress’ initiative, which, through the Students Loan Trust Fund, will give qualifying postsecondary students full support.

Also, John Mahama said the NDC is committed to increasing access by constructing more facilities in secondary schools that are already in place and allocating cash to finish the E-blocks.
