The Diocesan Bishop of the Obuasi Methodist Church, the Right Reverend Hayford Aduse-Poku, has called for the government to act boldly to extend the duration of the senior high school (SHS) education.

He asked that the length of time was increased by one year from the current three years to four.

Addressing the 20th annual synod of the church, he said the benefits from this in terms of the quality of education, would be enormous.

The Rt. Rev Aduse-Poku welcomed the decision by the government to implement the free SHS policy, describing it as brilliant and a right step, which needed to be supported by everybody.

"There could be no doubt that it would bring tremendous relief to numerous children from poor homes, who might never have received SHS education." He added.

He said, it is important that everything is done to make sure that the policy became a huge success.
