Accra, May 20, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday announced changes in the Command positions in the Ghana Armed Forces, shortly after he replaced the top hierarchy.
A statement signed in Accra by Mr. D.K. Osei, Secretary to the President, said the changes were on the advice of the Armed Forces Council and in consultation with the Council of State.
The statement said Brigadier General A. K. Abdulai has been appointed Commandant of the Military Academy and Training Schools.
Brig. Gen G. Aryiku has been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, while Brig. Gen. Bob Winful has been appointed Chief of Staff, General Headquarters.
The statement said Brig. Gen. Atipoe has been promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Commandant, Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
Brig. Gen. E. Okyere has been appointed General Officer Commanding, Southern Command, while Brig. Gen. J. N. Adinkrah has been appointed General Officer Commanding, Northern Command
President Kufuor had earlier promoted Brig. Gen. J. B. Danquah to the rank of Major General and appointed him the Chief of Defence Staff.
Naval Commodore A.R.S. Nunoo was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and appointed Chief of Naval Staff while Air Commodore J.O. Boateng was promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshall and appointed Chief of Air Staff.
He also announced changes in the positions in Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Brigadier General S.A. Odotei was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Chief of Army Staff while Brigadier General F. Adu Amanfor was also promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence, Ministry of Defence.
