The Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress in the Walewale Constituency of the Northern Region, Abdullah Abubakar, has expressed worry over the conduct of some officers of the West Mamprusi Electoral Commission.

Supporters of the National Democratic Congress in the Walewale Constituency flooded the streets of Walewale to welcome their parliamentary candidate into the constituency to file his nomination ahead of the parliamentary elections in December, 2016.

Abdallah Abubakar at the Electoral Commission observed some staff of the Commission are defying laid down rules which he says will mar the electoral process. He reiterated the need for them to conduct themselves ethically by avoiding conducts that insinuate they are doing the bidding of another political party.

“The fact that some staff carried verification machines to the residence of the running mate of the New Patriotic Party gives credence to the unethical conduct of some staff.

“They should not leave doubts in the minds of people,” he stressed.

After filing, Abdallah Abubakar paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Walewale, Doo-dana Tahiru, at his palace to seek his blessing ahead of the election.

The Parliamentary Candidate will launch his campaign on Sunday, October 2 in the district capital, Walewale.

Meanwhile, the incumbent Member of Parliament Dr Sagre Bambangi of the New Patriotic Party has also filed his nomination.

The third candidate, Abudu Yussif Kwabena, of the People’s National Convention is scheduled to file on Friday, September 30.
