A Communications team member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Peter Otokunor Boamah has stated that the days of witch-hunting schemed by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Ashanti region has ceased.
According to him, the party has now been accepted by the people in the region as compared to the previous years where NDC supporters could not even wear or display their party paraphernalia publicly.
He attributed this development to their good works and the manner the party is organised saying the NDC is the only united political party in the country.
Otokunor explained that the love shown to the party by Kumasi indigenes is genuine and not that they have money.
‘Previously, our supporters, communicators, serial callers lacked the courage to wear our t-shirts in Ashanti region, but now our t-shirts are flooded everywhere. We have embarked on series of campaigns in the region but now the commitment and enthusiasm by the people to see the President retained is unprecedented. Kumasi always turn upside down anytime the President visits here. Everybody is saying the president should be retained. This is because we are a united front party, developmental projects are bonuses to the reason people love us now, it has nothing to do with money,’ he explained.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he said the NDC is not characterised with squabbles like divisive NPP.
Otokunor claimed NPP members are not allowed to express their opinions on internal issues and therefore haunt their own members.
‘NDC is the only united party, the party is now accepted hugely by the indigenes in the Ashanti region. NPP is so tribalistic their members cannot share their own opinions or support their favourite candidates. They abuse and murder their own members, talk of their Upper East Regional Chairman whom they poured acid on and killed, one of their members in Asawase who was also killed, Baah Acheamfuor who was beaten at Fox FM, the list goes on. Which party is this?.
Look at what Martin Amidu is doing, he is still NDC member, if he were to be an NPP member, they would have killed or abused him, their national Chairman Paul Afoko, General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong were harassed and suspended. NPP still doesn’t understand democracy,’ he said.
