The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, recently met with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to present his choice for running mate ahead of the 2024 general elections.

According to a report by Asaaseradio.com, President Akufo-Addo offered his advice and gave his blessing to Dr. Bawumia regarding the choice of his running mate.

"A credible source reveals that the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Bawumia, has met with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo regarding his choice of running mate and received advice and the President's blessing," the post read on its social media handle on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Ahead of the official announcement, several names have been tipped as potential running mates to partner with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the NPP in the 2024 general elections.

Some possible candidates include Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare, and Irene Naa Torshie Addo, among others.

Meanwhile, neither the Presidency nor Dr. Bawumia's office has issued an official statement regarding the specifics of the meeting.
