Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin North was accosted by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members during his recent visit to the Ashanti Region.
Agyapong was in the region to join the campaign of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a video shared on social media, Agyapong is seated in the front seat of his car in the Kwabre East constituency while party members believed to be his supporters lamented about lack of development.
"Since 1992, we have voted for the NPP but haven't benefitted in any meaningful way," one said before another joined: "You are the very one that we want. We will die of hunger if you leave us behind, we will suffer."
"If we vote NDC and they don't develop this area, it is no news; but to vote the NPP and suffer such neglect is unfair for an area said to be a municipality, what is the evidence?" another asked.
The Ashanti Region is a stronghold of the NPP and the party is banking on the region to secure enough votes to break the 8.
Vice President Bawumia, the 2024 NPP flagbearer ended a three-day campaign tour of the region which was deemed successful.
Bawumia defeated Agyapong and others in the NPP flagbearership race late last year.
