NPP setting the stage to dispute election 2016 – Mahama

President John Mahama President John Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has accused the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of setting the stage to reject outcome of the impending December 7, general elections.

According to him, the NPP’s strategy in pursuit of this agenda is to constantly and needlessly attack the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission(EC), Charlotte Osei, an act the President noted has been ongoing for a long time.

Addressing the Kpone Katamanso Traditional Council in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday, President Mahama said the ‘Elephant family” has resorted to this condemnable plot because the party sees imminent defeat glaringly staring at it in the face.

“The NPP knows it will lose the election and so they are falsely claiming the EC Boss wants to rig the election in our favour. They are setting the stage to dispute the election because they can’t win the election. So then after the defeat the NPP will say the EC rig the elections. But that is not possible, the Electoral Commission can’t do that. Our victory in this election will come from God. I’m not the least nervous ahead of the election because I know the NDC will win convincingly.”

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7 to elect a President and 275 Parliamentarians to help govern the country in the next four years, with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are the front runners.
