Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has written off the existence of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from mainstream politics due to the deep-seated factionalism currently pervading in the largest opposition party.
He is certain the opposition NPP is out of the race of the 2016 general elections since Ghanaians are not ready to hand over the sovereignty of the country to an opposition leader who cannot even control his subjects.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, the Deputy Chief Scribe of the ruling party asserted the NPP’s flagbearer has lost control of his party and the respect of his members when his order to stop discussing party matters in the media was openly flouted.
He maintained the first person to openly demonstrate his disrespect for Nana Akufo Addo was vociferous Kennedy Agyepong when he resurrected happenings in the party on radio after Nana Akufo Addo gave his order.
He explained that the Assin North MP's conduct when he attacked leading members of the party hours after the flagbearer's directive shows he [Nana Addo] has lost control of his party; thus, cannot control Ghana when he gets the nod.
Koku Anyidoho was also emphatic that the NPP has collapsed and based his claim on the decision by some 5 Council of Elders out of 30 to initiate suspension procedures against the party’s National Chairman; with the flagbearer standing by the bylines.
“When Nana Akufo Addo gives order that nobody should talk, Ken Agyepong will disobey because he finances his [Nana Addo’s] campaign and so Ken Agyepong does not respect him. If you cannot control Ken Agyepong who said we should kill Ewes and Ga people, as you have not condemned that utterance, what shows he can control him when NPP comes to power? This means he can succeed in killing more Ewes and Ga people since Nana Akufo Addo cannot control him”, he stated.
He further added “Ken Agyepong will do what pleases him because he does not respect Nana Addo due to the fact that he finances his (Nana's) campaign. Is this the kind of President Ghanaians want? Because he cannot control his people and he wants to control Ghana?”.
“You cannot unite your party; you have divided your party and you want to come and divide Ghana as well….this party is dead and dead forever and that is why former President Kufuor and other elders don’t want to get involve for fear of victimization and verbal attacks”, he asserted.
