Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has come under a lot of flak after his infamous ‘galamsey queen’ comment.
He courted controversy when during a town hall meeting in the US said: "putting that lady [Aisha Huang – the Chinese galamsey queen] in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your economic problems. It is not going to make you or me happy, that’s not important”.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other pundits who are championing the fight against galamsey have condemned him with some asking for his resignation.
But Member of Parliament for Ayensuano constituency, Samuel Ayeh-Paye says there is no need for the Senior Minister to resign.
Speaking on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', he rather urged that concentration be put on “winning the fight against illegal mining.”
