Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for footing the bills of four-year-old Priscilla, who is suffering from leprosy.

According to Koku Anyidoho, the vice president, who was the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections, needs to be commended for such a gesture.

He asserted that Dr. Bawumia has been offering help to the needy despite their religious backgrounds or beliefs.

He encouraged the vice president, who lost in the general elections, by asserting that the loss of an election cycle doesn't define a man's life and that the important aspect is that life still moves on.

Taking to his social media page on December 26, 2024, he stated, "A deep and sincere touching of a life. Who is your neighbour? The one who helps in deep times of need, irrespective of religious beliefs. One election cycle doesn't define a man's life. Dr. Bawumia is going on with his life, and that's very important. Ayekoo."

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia could not hide his joy when a four-year-old cured leper he sponsored to Italy for treatment, Priscilla, visited him at his home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, December 26, 2024, the vice president described the visit of Priscilla, whom he met at the Weija Leprosarium, as the best Christmas gift he had received.

Dr. Bawumia expressed his gratitude to God for the successful surgery Priscilla underwent, which has made it possible for her to walk again.

"I got my best Christmas gift yesterday when Priscilla, a four-year-old cured leper from the Weija Leprosarium whom I sponsored for medical treatment of her amputated leg in Italy, returned to Ghana and paid me a visit at home to thank me and show that she can now walk with her new leg. To God be the glory," he wrote.

The post included a video of Priscilla's visit to the home of the vice president in the airport area of Accra, accompanied by Rev. Father Andrew Campbell, the caretaker of the Weija Leprosarium, and other officials of the leprosarium.

The video showed the moment Bawumia, who was extremely excited and beaming with smiles, embraced Priscilla as she walked into his living room.

The little girl was also very excited and could be seen wearing a broad smile on her face.

She was at one point asked where she was going, and she replied, "I'm walking for Dr. Bawumia," in the Twi dialect, to the amazement of the vice president and all the other people present.

Young Priscilla, whom her parents abandoned at birth due to her condition, has been under the care of Father Andrew Campbell at the Weija Leprosarium. She had her leg eventually amputated in Ghana following many unsuccessful attempts to treat her legs, which had been affected.

Vice President Bawumia, who is a Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana and a frequent visitor to the Weija Leprosarium, met young Priscilla and decided to assist her by funding her trip and medical costs in Italy for a special procedure to first treat her amputated leg and also fix a special prosthetic for her.

After a five-month stay in Italy for the procedure and recovery at one of the best facilities in the world for such procedures, little Priscilla is finally back in Ghana and walking again.
