Re: Govt Silent on 44 Executed Ghanaians

These killings occurred in 2005 around 22nd July, some Ghanaians in The Gambia, risked their lives in a police state like The Gambia to get to the bottom of the case, provided the Governments of Ghana the leads into the case, yet nothing has been done.

During the AU summit in The Gambia, Ghanaians in the Gambia were divided on the issue and did not want our president of Ghana to attend this meeting. This was communicated via the median but what did we see the president attended, the issue was raised at the meeting.

It is being said in many places that our investigators and politicians have as usual taken their shares from the president of The Gambia who boast of lots of dollars from “Allah’s Bank”.

The Government of the Gambia exempted members of Ghana town (fishing community of Ghanaians), from the annual renewal of their stay. This is also widely seen as an act of bribery.

I have time and again written on the issue, I have appealed to the media to ask the foreign Ministry the state of affairs on this issue. I think issue of follow in news reporting is important.

Some Ghanaian in the Gambia, say they will make it an election issue and are busy gathering information on the behaviors of the Ghanaian investigators and Senegal embassy staff whenever they visit the Gambian.

There are also plans to organize a mass funeral for them but some members of the Ghanaian community think it will be termed a demonstration by the Gambia authority.
