Queen mother of Abesua in the Ashanti Region has reportedly asked farmers in the town to relocate if they can't co-exist with the chanfan operators following a recent demonstration in the area over the negative impact of illegal mining activities.

The farmers say they have no option than to relocate, since illegal mining activities have affected their livelihoods.

This information was shared on the official X page of Joy FM on Monday, September 30, 2024, stating 'Erastus Asare Donkor reports that the Queen mother of Abesua has asked the farmers in the area to leave if they can't co-exist with the chanfan operators. This is after they were arrested for demonstrating against the chanfan operators."

On August 30, 2024, the Ghana Water Company Limited, (GWL) raised concerns over the activities of illegal miners that have disrupted water supply in the Central Region.
